Sar-e-Pol Province of Afghanistan



Sar-e Pol
also spelled Sari Pul (Pis one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is in the north of the country. Its capital is the city of Sar-e Pol. Dari Persian is the dominant language in the province.

Major ethnic groups are Uzbeks, Pashtuns, and Hazaras, and there are also some Arabs and Tajiks.

Under the Taliban;
Aminullah Amin, the first senior member of the Taliban to be captured, was the former governor of the province.
